Tuning
At Kevin Fell Piano Services, we tune and service pianos in the Nashville, TN area. Some of the areas I service regularly are: Nashville (of course), Franklin, Brentwood, Green Hills, Belle Meade, Bellvue, Columbia, Spring Hill, Kingston Springs, Dickson and many other areas.
Tuning a piano takes more than just having a good ear (Although that doesn't hurt), as setting the tuning pin so that it doesn't move when you leave takes a lot of practice. If the tuning pin is not set properly, the piano will go out of tune very quickly. This of course, is not the only reason a piano may go out of tune quickly. There are many factors that can affect the tuning of the piano and will require a trained professional to assess and diagnose the problem.
Some reasons a piano does not stay in tune include:
- Unstable enviroment
- Loose tuning pins
- New strings (either on a new piano or a newly restrung piano)
- Pitch raising
- Heavy use/abuse
- Poor string terminations
- Worn hammers
There are many other reasons why a piano won't stay tuned, which is why you should have a piano technician with not only the experience to diagnose the problem, but who stays up to date on the latest techniques to effectively rectify the problem.
At Kevin Fell Piano Services, we not only have experience to deal with any problems, but I am also constantly staying up to date in the piano technology world. I am an active member of the Piano Techniceans Guild and attend local chapter meetings, regional and national conferences.
