Tuning
At Kevin Fell Piano Services, we tune and service pianos in the Nashville, TN area. Some of the areas I service regularly are: Nashville (of course), Franklin, Brentwood, Green Hills, Belle Meade, Bellvue, Columbia, Spring Hill, Kingston Springs, Dickson and many other areas.
Servicing
Aside from regular tunings, the other parts of the piano need regular maintenance as well. Parts inside the action will warp, break or just wear out over time. In order to make sure the piano is providing the best tone and performance these parts need to be adjusted or replaced as needed as they drift away from their designed specifications.
Rebuilding
As a piano ages and hopefully is used, parts will begin to wear out. Once it is no longer possible to adjust these parts back to spec with regular servicing, it is time to replace parts. Generally speaking, after about 15-20 years the piano would be in need of refurbishing. After 40-50 years the piano most likely will need complete rebuilding.
Custom Work
Custom piano rebuilding would include everything in a complete rebuild but redesigned where improvements can be made. In a normal rebuild, when parts are replaced, they are replaced with a copy of what was there originally. In a custom rebuild, when parts are replaced, calculations are made to replace with the best part or design, regardless of what was there originally. In every piano, there are places that can be improved, even in the best pianos.
