Custom Piano Rebuilding
Custom piano rebuilding would include everything in a complete rebuild but redesigned where improvements can be made. In a normal rebuild, when parts are replaced, they are replaced with a copy of what was there originally. In a custom rebuild, when parts are replaced, calculations are made to replace with the best part or design, regardless of what was there originally. In every piano, there are places that can be improved, even in the best pianos.
Custom rebuilding is in a way redesigning the piano. Some items that might be redesigned in a piano on a custom rebuild include:
- The scale of the music wire
- The rib layout on the soundboard
- How much of the soundboard is allowed to vibrate
- The bridge pattern or layout
- The hammers to be used
- The regulation of the action
